A Poem for Highrise

My dear friend the highrise
How lovely can thee be?
To give me so much work to do
and let me out to see

Then pound me like an oil rig
to pull out the wee last bit
and out comes my toil and labor
as black as a crow at night

What would I do without thee?

Once again, I labor for many hours to bring the design to the next level. It is never ending--but that is what drives me on. Can I foster the growth of something special? Can I develop a masterpiece?

A nearly quick drawing using Sumi ink, ballpoint pen and Chartpak Markers, my partner Joe and I worked to lay some groundwork. With large newsprint papers we set out to shape a glimpse of the current highrise design. Again, I am against the use of Form to shape a building it does not mean it is useless in the least. All experiences generate ideas. This is just a round about way to hit the nail on the head so to speak. Designing for experience rather than look should be paramount!

Dilatory:
Am I thee that speaks little to a large extent?
Do I find myself hidden by obligations other than those of importance?

A Site of Wonders a Trip through space

“Follow that will and that way which experience confirms to be your own.”
Carl Jung

"As an Architect (student) I live for the thrill of space design."
Inspired by many and built by few, is a well crafted moment in space.
Provoked to administer medication to the ill sheep of technology
--
phenomenological architecture fosters experience as a connection to materiality.
What have we lost that binds us to some oblique 'lit box?'
Can it be our minds?

Break free, experience the world through the senses & understand past the fishbowl.
We sit in layers in layers in layers in layers in layers of fishbowls. We are watched from all angles as we wonder through life aimlessly chanting our popular hype.

The world was made--nay--crafted from pure imagination. We have built a system of prototypical responses to our environment and surroundings.
What can design do?
What may it do more?

These are the questions we must ask ourselves while Art shapes in our minds. Art comes in many forms including:
+well put together ice-cream cone
+imagined story line
or
+a stick placed neatly on the ground

Skill my dear friends crafts Art. The skill in the hands, the mind, the eyes,
The senses.

May we understand phenomenology now?
We think and materialize through our senses.
Our creations are from creations learned subconsciously.
We know what works and 'feels' by our past. Our present comes from our past.

May I now share a few mere humbled photos from San Francisco?
May they wet your appetite?
May they provoke your senses?

I have hit the typewriter now.

Crafting a Gift 2

The wedding stands
The bridegroom sits
The ladies talk
for nothing is amiss

---the phenomenology of another wedding gift---

------------------------------------------------------------
photograph a square flower

declare a point towards the center

to fold the bottom in and past

and fold the top very far

By cutting corners

on all four sides

will take a gander

to double tape the corner drape

so we can finish with a push of the finger

Crafting a Gift One

For a wedding.
A gift brings joy.
What better to make,
Than something coy

 ---experiencing a wedding gift---

A study in Clay

A quick design.
While I would consider my ideals to be in phenomenology
this exercise is slightly worth the effort.
Designing for form though is never a powerful experience
but rather a test of objectisism.
Can we craft an architectural object?

This should not be done.

Vertical Community

Ahhh, the time has come for all good men to sit
and start on Highrise.

With our trip
to San Francisco,
the year
started off
with a
rather tall
list
of
accomplishments.

A Highrise is a structure that stands at least 30 stories tall
and looms over the well deserving city beneath.

Fortunately I am up to the delivered challenge.

"Make yourself known."
