A Park for Creatures and Morphous'

The Mouth of a Creature

And the Scales of a Beast

Draws flowing Waves of tiling Lights

Into the depths of a Sand Castle

and Speaks Diligently abroad the Tower.

 --
The obtuse Park Güell by Antoni Gaudi holds many treasures and delights. The entrance brings lights to a dying breed of tile projects. Laced throughout are broken pieces of plates, pottery and tiles lighting the park in splendid eminence. Shapes of comic beasts join together singing colourful symphonies of grace. A hypostylic hall holds tubes for water supply and livens the field above. A few buildings including the elusive and majestic architect's house sit blindly behind landscaped trees calling for the viewer to immerse themselves on the tasteful colours and shapes. Finally, the arcade of cave-like columns line the edge of the park bounding the audience to weave through a tunnel of rock. The Park is exuberant, fun and immaculate.

A spectacle of amazement is the Batllo Casa in Barcelona. The extraordinarily obtuse house feigns nothing but peculiarity and amusement. The house for bones drys my mouth and restores me from some respiratory failure. It truly is a marvelous amorphous design. Antonio Gaudi is but a genius in his Art.

A cohesive design sets the building apart from the surfeit of other architecture ice-cream flavors. Building upon the omnipotent design of a spiny dragon sits the entrance and stair. The house swallows you whole grasping your ankles and pulling you through an organic array of inset lore. The chairs, the lights, the windows and door all fill the voids to perfection. Every detail is conceived. Every detail is born. Every measure of perfection is thought through. Life is breathed within.

A humbling structure brazened in glory bashes my design ability to a meager popper. Struggling to reclaim some ability in architecture I have become inspired beyond vitality itself. I shutter to imagine my coming design in comparison to master Gaudi but I shall strive to do my best. Architecture can not achieve a heightened level of being until one designs fully. There should be little pleasure in design abstention. To shape a building or any Art in that matter to half mast is to destroy Anima--its spirit.

Let us recapitulate upon our journey. All space, every micron and each material is brought to life. Gaudi rendered the building whole. Every detail is set. Nothing is misplaced. All has purpose, beauty and poetics. From the tiles in the light chasm to the circle of nodes on the ceiling, the intent is fair and just.

To Bring Reconciliation

--
A degree of abstraction brings inspiration to any journey. To find details befitting so neatly within the world can declare a means of power to any artist--especially an Architect.

Delve deep within the pointillist mind and strike dots of details to reconcile those drab tone of blanch white.  Raising the bar of details shall ultimately find beautiful craft held delicately.

A remarkable and obtuse surprise was the Library in Amsterdam by Architect Jo Coenen. Nestled aptly within the elder city are two paradigms of expertly designed modern architecture. The science museum "Nemo" by Renzo Piano guides the eye across the Copperesque cladding towards the river front. The frame then dances with river boats to which the enormous library settles. The bibliotèque stairs beckons you to approach the gigantic structure. You pierce within to find yourself imbued with stark white walls allowing the interior to shine with movement and shapes. The books stand out like an art collection among many.

Infiltrating further, the Children's area was of the greatest excitement and joy. Approaching the expanse you stand above the deep chasm where children keep active. The two-step stairs brings you at eye with the youth. Extruding from the ground are sliced, cylindrical shelves grasping the books. They bring the children's eyes from their short scale towards the beautifully conceived height of the atrium. The children live in a big world of joy and magic.

The library next brings the audience to spaces for elders. Music lounges, study rooms and quaint book shelves hold captive the gentle people in this prodigious complex. Striking the rooms with veils of white linen and godly chairs of leather sketches the break in stride. They sit, relax and learn. Onward they move towards a great room of computers to entertain the soul of knowledge.

Lastly, you rise through the floor to the crown of the empire. A lone cafe escorts the hungry and weary to indulge in great food. The space is delicate and finely detailed once more. Along with food sits nicely shaped tables and booths. The building oddly fits within a city of movement and activity; something I did not expect.

Sits a kingdom made for Mountain Kings

And Serenade the Poor souls to Bed

A mountaineer dangling from a wee piton lodged within a crevasse holds many secrets. Three buildings in the Alps-- architecture of the mountains needs not struggle for propriety. He stands alone; far from the world he gazes across the wondrous terrain. The obtuse buildings is unlike others--he is strong. He is detailed to last to be affirmed by the public. It is the end of the world and he knows it. The site is not for the weary nor the frightened. If architecture truly is designed for a people, this is proof.
